The percent of residents involved in a musical, art, or literary group, as reported by the Rochester Area Community Foundation's Social Capital Survey.
Why is this important?
Small-scale arts programs cultivate local talent and contribute to the overall arts climate of a region.
How is our region performing?
In 2006, just over 20% of respondents in our region reported participating in an arts group, roughly on par with the national figure. Both the regional and national rates increased slightly between the two survey years of 2000 and 2006.

Involvement is self-reported, so definitions of these activities may differ among respondents. For this indicator, the region includes Genesee, Livingston, Monroe, Ontario, Orleans, and Wayne counties.
