Means of Transportation by Mode
Means of Transportation by Mode refers to the various methods of travel utilized by area residents. These methods include driving alone, carpooling, using public transportation, and employing alternative modes such as biking or walking.

The US Census Bureau’s website provides data on the total population subdivided by the mode of their transport within the counties and localities in our 8-county region, New York State, and the United States. The data is from 2010, 2017, & 2023.
Drove Alone
In 2023, the majority of people in our 8-county region drive alone.
Monroe County
Monroe County has the highest percentage of public transportation users in 2023 at 2.16%.
Webster
The village of Webster has the highest percentage of people who carpool in 2023, at 15%.
Declining
From 2017 to 2023, the rate of people taking public transportation in the City of Rochester has declined by 1.26%.
