Median household income for counties and localities in our region is the midpoint income level adjusted for inflation to 2021. It indicates the economic well-being of households and reflects income distribution within the community.

Median household income subdivided by race/ethnicity is the median income of households within specific racial or ethnic groups, offering insight into economic disparities among different demographics in our region.

  • The data, sourced from the United States Census Bureau, includes information on the Median Household Income for the United States, New York State, the 8-county region, and localities from 2010 to 2022.

    We acknowledge that the racial/ethnic categories may not feel like a direct representation of your racial/ethnic identity and for some may not feel empowering. As these data are from Census and government-based datasets, we are limited to their categories. We hope that collectively we will work toward more expansive and inclusive terminology.

Median Household Income by Race/Ethnicity

Asian

In 2022, Asian households had the highest median income of all races in the 8-county region, reaching $73,000.

The median income for Black households in Orleans County has increased more than 8 times since 2010, rising from $14,600 to $122,000 in 2022.
